Who are you and what are you doing?
I am a foil fencer in the German national team, a sports soldier in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr, an 8-time German champion, a medalist at Grand Prixs, World Cups and European Championships and I dedicate my entire passion to fencing.
What does a typical day for you look like?
I can't do anything without breakfast! I like to start the day with a delicious açai bowl and my favorite toppings! Then I'm straight on the way to the first training session. We usually have lessons (so-called individual training) and athletics in the morning and classical fencing training in the afternoon. In between, I take time for regeneration, massages, physiotherapy and in the evening for a delicious dinner or meeting friends, going to the cinema or going to a restaurant.
What has been the best moment in your career so far?
Winning the silver medal at the Grand Prix in Los Angeles and thus reaching the top 6 in the world rankings.
What is important to you in your diet?
It is important to me that it is very balanced and healthy. Nevertheless, it has to be relatively quick and easy for me because I want to quickly replenish my memory after strenuous training sessions and also don't want to spend forever in the kitchen. Nevertheless, it has to be very varied and of course look beautiful! :) After all, the eye eats too.
What do you usually do in your free time?
In my free time I try to spend as much time as possible with my family and friends, as much as possible between training camps and competitions. And I also try to make further progress in my distance learning course to become a personal trainer in my free time and continue to educate myself in the areas of training and nutrition.
How has Corona affected your everyday life as a competitive athlete?
Corona has made it very difficult for us to hold fencing competitions. Due to the high number of participants and the event being held indoors, concepts are very difficult to implement. Competitions are the most important thing for us. They are motivation and at the same time exactly what we work towards in order to be able to compete with the world's best every time. And if that's missing, it naturally turns everyday life upside down. Nevertheless, we have the opportunity to train relatively normally and therefore work on weaknesses in detail.
