My name is Jacqueline Otchere, I'm 22 years old, I'm passionate about pole vaulting in Mannheim and I'm studying life sciences (4th semester) in Heidelberg.
What does a typical day for you look like?
I always go to the university in the morning and attend my lectures. Then I go to training and train there for about 3 hours. On Mondays I go straight afterwards to Sportomed in Mannheim for physiotherapy. Afterwards I often have a short break and, depending on the day of the week, I then have 1-2 events at the university in the afternoon. On Tuesday evening I go to physiotherapy again.
What has been the best moment in your career so far?
The best moment was my first start in the national jersey in London at the Athletics World Cup. This competition was very special because I jumped twice there. First 4.50m and then immediately afterwards 4.60m.
What is important to you in your diet?
I eat vegan and healthy. What is particularly important to me is that it is fresh and has not been treated with pesticides. I also make sure that my diet is varied. On the one hand so that my body has everything it needs and on the other hand because otherwise I would quickly get bored.
What do you do in your free time?
In addition to sport, studying also takes up a lot of time. To do this, I have to learn a lot in my free time. I also love spending time with my cat. I love animals more than anything! Then I also like to meet up with friends or go shopping.
A topic that is very close to my heart and that I like to get involved in
I invest my free time in animal and environmental protection.
“You can recognize me from afar…?”
...at my laughter.
“If I wasn’t an athlete, I would be…?”
"…I would want to open a sanctuary for animals."
